Further to our telephone conversation last Thursday. My name is Alasdair Bavister and I'm a Membership Services Administrator (MSA) for OurWatch, the national Neighbourhood Watch organisation and also a member of the executive of the Association of Dorset Watches (ADW).

We're contacting all the registered Neighbourhood Watch Main Coordinators in Dorset by phone, to find out how things are, and to confirm that they and their schemes are active.

I can see that yo last logged into Neighbourhood Alert (NA) 20/07/2024. NA records show that The Avenue Moordown Homewatch has 2 members, with you as Main Coordinator. NA shows 3 people as suggested members The Avenue Moordown Homewatch. They are:

You said you are in contact with around 20 people through The Avenue Moordown Homewatch. As discussed, a good way of running a NW scheme is to have a WhatsApp group. This enables members of the group to communicate securely between themselves with no one else able to access it. If you set up a WhatsApp group such as The Avenue Moordown HW and then contact your local residents, asking them to to text you their names, addresses and mobile numbers, you can add them to your contacts and then to the WhatsApp group.

Whether or not you have a WhatsApp group for The Avenue Moordown Homewatch maybe you can persuade your neighbours to go to register with OurWatch by going to

They can then put in their postcode to find local schemes, the first of which listed is The Avenue Moordown HW and can sign up to join the scheme. Alternatively they can click on "Become a Member" “Join Us”.
